Compliance with Data Protection Act

As a "small club", Canterbury Players Amateur Dramatic Society is not required to register under the Data Protection Act.  It is, nevertheless expected to comply with the principles underlying the Act.  To this end, the Society undertakes to hold on its computers only that data necessary for normal day-to-day administration of the Society - i.e., the names, contact information and membership grades of our members and patrons. Under the 1998 revision to the Act, photographs of people whose identities are clearly recognisable are regarded as containing personal data and therefore fall under the provisions of the Act. The Society undertakes that no recognisable photograph of any member or patron of the Society will be published on the internet or in any of the Society’s printed publications without the permission of the member or patron concerned. It further undertakes not to publish the photograph of any child under the age of 16 without the written permission of his/her parent or guardian.  Where a photograph of a child under 16 is published, the Society undertakes not to publish his/her name or to otherwise identify him/her.

Additional archive information on the Society's website has been gathered from "public domain" sources, e.g. newspaper articles and past performance programmes.  However, if requested, we will amend or remove any article or photograph.
