About "Party To Murder "

When the attractive, but not altogether admirable NORMA BRENT is killed (by the unusual method of a manipulated hair-dryer) there are a number of people who would seemingly have reason to welcome her departure. The cold eye of suspicion glances from one member of the cast to another, not excluding STEPHEN himself, and the appearance of mysterious typed notes hidden in - of all places - a copy of Plato's Republic - adds to the general unease. For one frightening moment it seems NORMA may have come to life again, but the apparition turns out to be her cousin DIANE, who strongly resembles her. At the climax of the play STEPHEN makes good use of this resemblance in a carefully staged and eerie scene which leads to the unmasking of the killer.

About The Authors

Olive Chase's first love, after her family, is theatre, then travel. She has attended Brighton's Theatre Royal regularly since 1945, little realising that she was to see three of her plays performed there. The first was Person Unkown with Anna Neagle; the second was Countercrime, written with Stanley Clayton, starring Glynn Houston, and later Raymond Francis. She has written many one-act plays and sketches, gaining experience from watching other people's plays when she was drama critic for the Brighton and Hove Gazette. Mrs Chase has travelled to some forty countries and her ambition is a long run in London and New York... of course!

Stewart Burke is a full-time author of six stage plays, three novels, four film scripts and 110 radio dramas, broadcast throughout the world.
